V09 moves · set by Priya · main wall
Big friendly jugs the whole way up. Your first-ever problem probably lives here.
[ Basalt Yard, Sheffield · 14 m of wall · est. 2019 ]
Crux is a bouldering yard in an old basalt works: fresh problems every Tuesday, mats that forgive everything, and chalk by the door. No ropes, no experience, no ego required — falling is the sport, landing is the skill.
Every hold on the wall. Pick a problem to trace its line, mat to top-out.
[ The route board ]
The set rotates one wall at a time, so your project survives long enough to go down. Colour is the problem, tag is the grade. Beta is free — ask literally anyone.

[ Community ]
Bouldering looks like a solo sport until you try it. Then it's three strangers on the mat arguing about your left heel, and one of them is right.
Ask anyone how a problem goes and you'll get three answers and a demonstration. That's not a nuisance — that's the sport.
We teach falling before we teach climbing. Cheer strangers on their projects. Brush your holds. Move the pads back.
Top your long-term project and the café rings the bell. House rule: you cut, everyone eats. The bell rang 312 times last year.
"I came for a birthday party and never left. Two years on, I'm still not over my first V3."
"Nobody told me falling would be the fun part."
"The setters remember your antistyle and set for it. Rude, honestly. Come anyway."
