Velvet Static
Two people, forty pedals. Writes love songs to broadcast interference and means every word of the hiss.

Decorative background: a full-screen generative visualization. While the transmission plays it renders live frequency bars and beat shockwaves in acid lime and magenta; while idle it renders drifting television static.
Independent label · est. 2019 · signal/noise ratio: unity
A label for experimental electronics and noise-pop from six cities that all sound like rain on a substation. We press signal. You bring the noise.

[ THE ROSTER — 06 ACTS ]
Every cover on this label is generated, not photographed — each act gets its own procedural dialect. Hover one and it misbehaves. That’s contractual.

Seven synthesists, one power strip. Their live shows are legally classified as weather.

Records everything at 3 a.m. through a broken laptop mic, on purpose. The dust is part of the mix.
SIGNED 2024 · SN-010
Plays sheet metal like it owes them money. Somehow the saddest band we’ve ever pressed.
SIGNED 2021 · SN-006
One chord, forty minutes, no regrets. Ask them what it’s about and they’ll hold the chord longer.

Chrome-plated body music. Voted “most likely to be a rogue AI” by a fanzine we can’t legally name.

[ CATALOG — PRESSINGS & TRANSMISSIONS ]
Pressing play doesn’t stream the record — it retunes the house synth to the release’s tempo, key and pattern. A sketch, not the master. We think that’s more honest than a fake audio tag.
Formats are real objects. Digital is a lossless file and a thank-you note. The 12″s are cut loud enough to worry your downstairs neighbour, which is the correct volume.
[ MANIFESTO — READ ALOUD, BADLY ]
WE PRESS SIGNAL.
YOU BRING THE NOISE.
LOUD IS A DIRECTION,
NOT A MISTAKE.
We are not a content pipeline. We are five people and a landline pressing records by acts the algorithm can’t rank because the algorithm has never stood in front of a bass bin and felt its sternum change its mind.
Every release is mastered by a human, sequenced by a human, and argued about by several humans. If a machine made it, a person meant it.
[ THE LIST ]
One email per release. No algorithm decides what you hear — a person with mild tinnitus does.
We will never sell your address. We don’t even know how.
